Non-Profit Spotlight: Make-A-Wish FoundationThe Make-A-Wish Foundation regional chapter in Blue Ash is part of the Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana chapter, the most prolific chapter in the country. "The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana is now the chapter serving the largest Each year the Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana chapter grants about 750 wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses in the tri-state area. And the Blue Ash chapter, which serves Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana, plays a large role in that. On average, the chapter fulfills the wishes of about 125 children each year, Borba said.
And with each wish, like a trip to Disney Land, costing an average of $6,000 each, charitable contributions are vital to the success of the non-profit, which is celebrating its 25 anniversary this year.
"We are totally supported by charitable contributions," Borba said. Make-A-Wish has several, events each year. And with many of those annual events successfully behind the chapter for 2009, plans are already underway for 2010. The most well-known will be in May, the 7th annual Walk for Wishes campaign starts at Foundation Square in downtown Cincinnati.
