Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, which houses the administrative offices of a 32-county Girl Scout council in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana along the I-75 corridor, is undergoing a $1 million expansion project at their 4930 Cornell Road location.
This expansion will add 4,611 sq. ft. to the current 13,678 sq. ft. space. It will offer more meeting space for troops and scout officials. There'll also be added space for volunteer program resources and the council shop where badges, uniforms, pins and other scout essentials are sold, said spokeswoman Ann MacDonald.
"Through sound management practices we were able to complete the capital expansion without borrowing money or having a capital campaign," MacDonald said. Building should be completed in June. The project incorporated some energy efficient "green" building practices and was overseen by Construction Manager Turnbull Wahlert Construction Co. It was designed by architects Piaskowy and Cooper.
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio serves over 50,000 girls, mobilizes 15,000 volunteers and employs 150 staff.
