Blue Ash has attracted Black and Veatch, a leadingglobal engineering, consulting and construction company. B&V is set to move into 6,213 square feet in West Lake Center, 4555 Lake Forest Drive, at the end of May from a location in a nearby town.

Omya Industries hiring, expanding at Landings of Blue Ash

Omya Industries Inc., an international manufacturer of calcium carbonate with plants across North America, is adding 33 jobs to its offices at Landings of Blue Ash as part of its recent move to the city from Vermont.

This adds to the 50 jobs Omya brought here in March 2008 after moving its corporate management functions to Blue Ash. About half of the coming jobs will be filled by current Omya employees who are transferring from Vermont. The rest will be filled locally, said John Suddarth, Omya’s Vice President of Human Resources. The new employees should be on board by late fall.

The new and transferred job sectors include customer service, sales administration logistics and Information Technology, Suddarth said.

In addition, Omya just completed a 10,600 sq. ft. office space expansion to its existing 26,000 square-foot space.

Home grown tech company Lan Solutions moves into a new space

Tim Rettig, president and founder of network support services provider LAN Solutions Inc. founded the company in 1992 while still in college.

He sold it in 1996 to Perfection Group and bought it back in 2007 after it nearly dissolved when Perfection’s business interests changed. The company now has 27 employees and serves more than 100 small and medium-sized businesses, mostly across Greater Cincinnati. In May, the company moved into a new space at 4675 Cornell Road.

Rettig, who lives in Mason, co-owns the company with COO Megan Heil.

“The biggest reason I feel we are successful is our dedication to client. We are always looking for the best interest for the client long-term. We’re not just about whatever newest technology is, or what we are trying to sell. We’ve kept many clients since we started the company in 1992,” Rettig said.

Three New Eats in Blue Ash

Frank Foster has just opened Ohio’s first Rising Roll Gourmet franchise at 4122 Hunt Road in the Kroger shopping center. The Atlanta-based, fast-casual sandwich shop opened in 1996 with one store, but since has grown to include over a dozen locations in seven states. Rising Roll serves lunch and dinner, including hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads and grilled Panini.

And a new Incahoots is opening nearby at 4110 Hunt Road in the former Blockbuster space next to Kroger in late June. This remodeled space is larger than in a previous location on Kenwood Road, and includes a 60-person party room and patio dining. The menu will continue to serve Rueben, burgers, soups, seafood, grilled steaks plus some new dishes. The restaurant also welcomes John Tomlin, former chef de cuisine at the former Vernon Manor Hotel.

A new restaurant called Sammy’s Gourmet Burgers and Beer will be opening at 4767 Creek Road in early June.  The owner, Sammy Flores, who also owns El Pueblo Restaurant on Hunt Road, said opening this restaurant is a dream come true.  Sammy’s will serve lunch and dinner.
